In the shadow of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., America's electoral crisis continues.
King marched across the south and the nation to guarantee all Americans, black and white, the right to vote. But in 2000 and again in 2004, that right was denied.
Now in the wake of another bitterly contested vote count, is the electoral situation improving in the spirit of Dr. King?

Social Security can be considered one of the major hallmarks of progressivism : It turned what was formerly almost sure poverty for millions of aging Americans into a secure retirement. But George W. Bush's plan would remove that security, throw seniors' retirement to the stock market, and bring in a windfall for Wall Street. The good news is that not everyone in Congress—including some Republicans—is on board with the plan . To restore integrity to the U.S. House of Representatives, Public Citizen is calling for Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) to step down as Majority Leader or be removed by the House if he does not relinquish the post voluntarily.
No sitting member of Congress has received more admonishments for violations of the House’s ethics rules than DeLay. Other ethics complaints against him are pending before the Department of Justice and Federal Election Commission, and a Texas grand jury is examining his possible role in a campaign money-laundering scheme.
Public Citizen also seeks to enact a package of “Democracy in Congress” reforms to “Clean Up the House” and guarantee the rights of members of the minority party in the House to fully participate in the legislative process. After all, they represent nearly a majority of the population.
Public Citizen Asks Justice Department to Probe House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and Energy Firm Officials for Possible Bribery
Public Citizen asked the U.S. Department of Justice to conduct a formal investigation of possible violations of federal anti-bribery statutes by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) and former Rep. W.J. “Billy” Tauzin (R-La.), as well as executives and lobbyists for the Kansas-based Westar Energy, Inc.
