There's one thing you can say for President Bush: He sticks to what he knows.
Take his new Energy Plan, for example. The whole plan, the entire strategy for reversing our dependence on foreign fuel, for preserving our way of life, for saving our wilderness, and for promoting clean energy for the future of our planet can be summed up in one word:
Yes, that polluting fossil fuel that by its very nature is limited, that's the one. It also happens to be where Bush Jr. made his money, but that's probably just a coincidence.
To be fair, the Bush-Cheney Energy Plan does go into a little more detail than that.
For example, gas prices have risen 21% in some states. The Bush answer? Drill for oil. And hey, how about that Alaskan Wilderness? Lots of oil, all near the surface, a surface that is currently inhabited by endangered species and rare plants. They'll never notice, we can just drill around them.
And who helped Bush-Cheney come up with their fabulous plan? Oil and Gas CEOs, famed for their impartiality and concern for the long-term good of the planet.
What excellent judgment George W. Bush has.
John Kerry knows you want less dependency on oil, and he thinks you're right to want it. That's why he will unlock American ingenuity to create a sustainable energy plan developing alternative fuels and energy-efficient technology.
Bush is expecting us to run out of steam before we can drive him out of power. Sadly for him, this fight is something the American people have plenty of energy for.
John Kerry's plan for sustainable energy will create jobs and lessen our dependence on fossil fuels. So read the plan.

Spread the word. Together, we'll use energy wisely.

Public Record: Bush Ignored Terrorism Before 9/11
In the face of Richard Clarke's well-documented testimony to the 9/11 commission yesterday, the White House is continuing to say that it made counterterrorism its top priority upon coming into office in January 2001. White House spokesman Scott McClellan, echoing similar comments from top Administration officials, said that "this Administration made going after Al Qaida a top priority from very early on" in the face of increased terror warnings before 9/111. But, according to the public record, the Administration made counterterrorism such a "top priority" that it never once convened its task force on counterterrorism before 9/11, attempted to downgrade counterterrorism at the Justice Department, and held only two out of more than one hundred national security meetings on the issue of terrorism. Meanwhile, the White House was cutting key counterterrorism programs -- Bush himself admitted that he "didn't feel the sense of urgency" about terrorism before 9/112.
According to the Washington Post, President Bush and Vice President Cheney never once convened the counterterrorism task force that was established in May 20013 -- despite repeated warnings that Al Qaida could be planning to hijack airplanes and use them as missiles. This negligence came at roughly the same time that the Vice President held at least 10 meetings of his Energy Task Force4 and attended at least six meetings with Enron executives5.
Similarly, Newsweek reported that internal government documents show that, before 9/11, the Bush Administration moved to "de-emphasize" counterterrorism6. When the "FBI officials sought to add hundreds more counterintelligence agents" to deal with the problem, "they got shot down" by the White House.
Additionally, the Associated Press reported in 2002 that "President Bush's national security leadership met formally nearly 100 times in the months prior to the Sept. 11 attacks yet terrorism was the topic during only two of those sessions." This is consistent with evidence Clarke has presented showing that his January 2001 "urgent" memo asking for a meeting of top officials on the imminent Al Qaida threat was rejected for almost eight months7. At the time, the White House said that they simply "did not need to have a formal meeting to discuss the threat"8.
Finally, the White House threatened to veto efforts putting more money into counterterrorism9, tried to cut funding for counterterrorism grants10, delayed arming the unmanned airplanes11 that had spotted bin Laden in Afghanistan, and terminated "a highly classified program to monitor Al Qaida suspects in the United States12

You might think this would nail the
coffin shut on the Bush campaign..
Clarke Warned of Hundreds Dead Just Before 9/11 Former counterterrorism official Richard Clarke sent a letter to national security adviser Condoleezza Rice one week before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks urging Bush dictatorship aides to imagine how they would feel if hundreds of Americans were killed in a terrorist strike.
Clarke to 9/11 families: Your government failed you Clarke: Bush didn't see terrorism as 'urgent' --Richard Clarke, Dictator Bush's former counterterrorism chief, told an independent panel investigating the attacks of September 11, 2001, that the regime didn't consider terrorism an "urgent" priority until then.

Bush has alot of nerve to campaign on his being "protecter of America", on his "war on terror",
When George W. Bush became the President of the United States his foremost, sworn duty was to protect our country and its people--above all other things. Bush violated his oath of office by negligently permitting Osama bin Laden free reign to unleash al-Quaeda and the Saudi terrorists against the U.S. on 9/11.

Again and Again, Paul O'Neill and Others Have Shown Us Proof of the Bush Cartel's Betrayal and Incompetence, And Still America Sleeps: 'Bush ignored the al-Qa'ida threat before 11 September,' Says Clarke
It was outrageous, Mr Clarke told 60 Minutes, that the President was running for re-election "on the grounds he's done such great things about terrorism. He ignored it. He ignored terrorism for months, when maybe we could have done something to stop 9/11".
Instead, the incoming Bush team focused on the same Cold War issues that pre-occupied his father's administration, notably the "Star Wars" missile defence shield, and Iraq. "It was as if they were preserved in amber from when they left office eight years earlier," he said.

Where was Bush on 9-11?
Follow The Leader by John Prados The president has made his leadership on September 11, 2001 the focus of campaign ads. We'll take the bait-what did he do on that fateful day? http://www.tompaine.com/feature2.cfm/ID/10082
Bush Continues to Mislead About 9/11
As President Bush visits a memorial for victims of the 9/11 attacks today, he continues to refuse to clarify dishonest comments he and his national security adviser made denying they had any warning that a terrorist attack was imminent before 9/11.1
In May 2002, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice claimed, "I don't think anybody could have predicted that [Al Qaeda] would try to use an airplane as a missile."2 Similarly, President Bush denied having any idea about the threat, saying on 5/17/02, "Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to kill on that fateful morning, I would have done everything in my power to protect the American people."3
The problem is that these denials contrast sharply with warnings the White House did receive prior to 9/11. Specifically, the Administration was warned before 9/11 that Al Qaeda was planning to use airplanes in an attack against the United States and that the terror group had recently considered using airplanes as missiles. ABC News and Dateline NBC reported that White House officials acknowledge that U.S. intelligence officials delivered a one-and-a-half page document to President Bush on August 6th that warned that "bin Laden's terrorist network might try to hijack American planes."4, 5, 6 Those warnings came at the same time that U.S. and Italian officials were warning that "Islamic terrorists might attempt to kill President Bush and other leaders by crashing an airliner into the [July 2001] Genoa summit of industrialized nations."7
These warnings came at the same time top Administration officials were being told to change their own personal flight plans because of "threats." Attorney General John Ashcroft stopped flying commercial airlines and instead began "traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines" because of "what the Justice Department called a 'threat assessment."8 (To this day, the details of that threat assessment have never been made public.) Similarly, Newsweek reported that the day before the 9/11 terror attacks "a group of top Pentagon officials suddenly canceled travel plans for the next morning, apparently because of security concerns."9

Here is how it happened, Bush and his team are to blame!
Read this article from yesterday
In recent weeks, President Bush has touted his record on national security issues, while criticizing others for supposedly weakening U.S. homeland defense. But with the President refusing to meet with the 9/11 commission for longer than one hour, concerns are being raised about the whether the Bush Administration has something to hide about it's pre-9/11 behavior. As columnist Richard Cohen notes, "If the President wants to own Sept. 11" for his political gain "he's entitled. But it does not come alone. Sept. 10 is his, too."
